Material and Construction
These planks are made from high-strength steel, providing excellent durability and load-bearing capacity. Many feature raised hooks or slip-resistant dimples to enhance safety and stability when placed on scaffold frames. They are engineered to integrate seamlessly with modular Safway-style scaffolding systems.
Types of Steel Planks
DI65 OSHA Scaffold Plank: Built to meet OSHA safety standards, suitable for heavy loads and rigorous construction environments.
Standard Steel Planks with Raised Hooks: Available in lengths from 2'7" to 10' and widths around 9", designed to fit common Cuplock or Ringlock scaffolding systems. The raised hooks secure the plank on scaffold frames to prevent slipping.
Safety Features
Non-slip surface: Textured or dimpled surfaces reduce the risk of slipping.
Raised hook ends: Help secure planks to scaffold frames to maintain stability.
OSHA compliance: Certain planks like the DI65 model adhere to federal scaffolding safety regulations.
Applications
Safway-style steel planks are suitable for:
Heavy-duty construction sites
Masonry, stucco, and plaster work
Commercial building scaffolding
Industrial and maintenance projects requiring flexible platform configurations
They can be used with ladder frames, walk-through frames, and hybrid frames, enabling safe passage under or along scaffold setups.
Key Considerations
Verify plank length and width are compatible with your scaffold frame.
Steel planks are preferred for heavier loads.
Regular inspection for wear, bending, or compromised hooks is essential to ensure ongoing safety.
